Contemporary Sculptures of Zhang Yaxi.

While finishing up research on contemporary cinese artists, i had the pleasure of coming across contemporary Chinese Sculptor Zhang Yaxi. Her works are a beautiful mix of bronze, and other materials. Her depiction of the female form is striking and beautiful. So i thought i'd share a little bit of her work with you. Ron Hays Music Image: Odyssey

this is from the laser-disc Ron Hays, music by Larry Fast Image: Odyssey.
'The New Television Workshop at WGBH supported the creation and broadcast of experimental works by artists. One of their projects was the Music Image Workshop, which was primarily a project of Ron Hays, who used the Paik-Abe videosynthesizer to create elaborate visual scores set to music. It was funded by the Rockefeller Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts from 1972 through 1974. Hays worked closely with WGBH producer and director, David Atwood, to create both live broadcasts and finished works. Additionally, works by other artists were presented under the auspices of the Music Image Workshop.'

Omayra Sanchez, 13 years old, was the victim of volcano Nevado del Ruiz's eruption in 1985, that devasted the Armero village, in Colombia. Omayra was trapped for three days under the mud, clay and water that was left from her own house. When the paramedics, with scarce resources, tried to help her, they sadly realized there was nothing they could do, since to remove her from the deadly trap they would have to amputate her legs and the lack of a speacilist on the scene would result in her death.
